Upon the world of Kyranath, there exists many races: humans, elves, goblins... and though all these races have many differences, they share one thing in common, the gods. The gods of Kyranath are a diverse lot, and although not every god is venerated by every race, they are all acknowledged as being influences on everyday life. As such, the gods play an important role in most people's lives, not only spiritually, but politically and economically. All races accept that each god exists, but may favor one over the other and put them at different levels of importance.
The gods have at times made their thoughts and desires known and appeared to their worshippers. They are able to grant powers to some of their special agents that are far beyond what any normal person could do and grant divine magics to their faithful in order to cast spells to pursue their goals. It is not a question of weather the gods exist or not, it is undeniable that they do, but only in how far their power carries and how important they are to the denizens of the world that may be in question. Some may deny the gods any power over them or the world around them, deny that they are to be followed and so rule over Kyranath but only those ignorant through lack of experience or teaching, self or otherwise deluded or deficient of mind would deny that they are real.In all there are 27 deities divided into three pantheons in Kyranath. The pantheons are based on the original greater force from which they were created, the eternal powers of Order, Chaos and Balance. The names of the pantheons come from the ancient names given to these greater powers. They were Kre-at - the design in all things and representing Order, Ost - the equilibrium between all forces and representing Balance and Bal-og - the aegis of change and representing Chaos.
Even though a common bond is shared by each god in the separate pantheons, this does not mean they all get along or cooperate with each other. Gods within the same pantheon may be the greatest of enemies and those of other pantheons the greatest of friends. Also the gods within each pantheon have no consistent familial connection and in fact some gods in different pantheons are thought to be related to each other. It is only through an underlying influence by these ancient, greater forces that they find their link and placement in the pantheon.
Mysteries of the Gods
The Gods of Kyranath are in many ways a great mystery. It is said that "Only the gods know the ways of the divine, and it is for none of lesser power to understand," and that is the way it should be. Much of what is known of the gods of Kyranath comes from their religious leaders and few of the separate churches share the same creed and dogma or teachings.
What is generally told or thought to be true of the gods is spoken of here.
Villains
Within Kyranath, there are four gods that can empower a holy warrior dedicated to evil and chaos; these are known as Villains and are the counter to the Paladins of other lawful and good gods. The gods that can empower these agents of the darker forces are Ajoetis, Ballog, Sembral and Syth.
The description of and differences between these gods and their holy servants can be found here.
